Sewing with Dawn, The Stitching Coach Workshop Series

The MakerLab at Danbury Library presents an exciting lineup of three engaging sewing workshops for the winter of 2024.These workshops aim to provide a diverse range of skills and experiences to participants, fostering a sense of accomplishment and creativity that cater to varying skill levels and interests.

Space is limited and registration is required. FREE for ages 16+.

February 13: Embroidered Hearts (Virtual)

Patrons will delve into the art of embroidery, learning three fundamental embroidery stitches to craft a charming hanging ornament. Utilizing a virtual platform, participants will be guided through the creation process. This ZOOM program promises an enriching experience for all skill levels.

Grab & Go Kits will be available in the MakerLab, ONE week before each workshop starts, LIMIT one kit per registrant. An email will be sent when the kit can be picked up.

March 12: Foundation Paper Piece Quilting (Virtual)

Celebrating National Quilting Month, this ZOOM workshop introduces patrons to the technique of paper piecing an 8″ quilt block. Participants will utilize Mary Hertel’s Paper Piecing All Year Round (available on Hoopla) and the “April, Chick in a Flower Pot” pattern. Emphasizing the importance of following instructions, attendees will delve into this intricate quilting method.

April 30: Make a Zipper Pouch (In-person)

Celebrating National Zipper Day, this in-person workshop focuses on bag making and fundamental zipper skills. Participants will engage in a hands-on session, creating a functional and stylish zipper pouch in the Danbury Library’s MakerLab. For those who participated in the March program, an option to modify the pouch pattern to fit their quilt block is available with prior information.
