How do I get a library card?

Library Cards are available free to all Danbury residents. When applying for a library card in person, you must show proof that you live in Danbury. If you cannot provide proof in the form of a current Connecticut Driver’s License or State of Connecticut ID card, see our “Get a Card” page for a list of additional acceptable forms of identification.

Parents or legal guardians are responsible for all materials issued on cards for children under age 18 and all fees incurred on those items. Without a parent or legal guardian present, children 17 and under will be issued a library card that is good for 30 days and given a permission slip to take home. They will be permitted to check out one item until the completed permission slip is returned.

See our “Get a Card” page for residents of other towns in Connecticut, out of state residents or residents of homeless shelters or temporary housing.
