For in-person applications or to pick up a physical card, proof of residency is required. Residents may use a current CT drivers license OR a government issued photo ID (such as a passport) with birth date and an official piece of mail with the current Danbury street address.
Danbury Educators
Danbury Educator cards are available for free to all current Danbury teachers in public and private Danbury schools. Danbury preschool teachers are also eligible. Non-Danbury residents who teach in a Danbury school can apply for a library card that grants full access to all library resources and services that residents enjoy. Residents of Homeless Shelters/Transitional Housing
Individuals and families who are residents of a local homeless shelter or temporary housing must bring in a letter on letterhead from the shelter or housing facility along with photo ID. We will provide you with a 30-day card. This card will be issued for 30 days from the date on the letter. This card will allow you to take out a maximum of 10 items each check-out. As a transitional customer you will not be permitted to borrow electronic devices. If you are still in a shelter or temporary housing after 30 days, you will need to repeat this process.
