Code Like Ada Lovelace: First Steps in Programming

Kids and families will explore the basics of programming by learning how computers use binary code (1s and 0s) to write their names. A short story or video will introduce Ada Lovelace, followed by a gentle pre-introduction to Scratch, where participants can explore animating a name on the screen.

This is a shared learning experience—no coding experience needed, and caregivers are encouraged to stay and learn alongside their child. Optional coding-themed puzzles and games will be available, with a small giveaway.

Registration required. Ages 7+

Please note: Families planning to participate in the Scratch portion should create a free Scratch account in advance and bring their child’s username and password on the day of the program.
