Togo and Balto: Heroes of the Race to Nome

In January of 1925 a deadly epidemic of diphtheria struck Nome, Alaska. The cure, a serum that was only available more than 1,000 miles away in Anchorage.

With the harsh winter ice blocking sea travel and the frigid winds making delivery by plane impossible, there was only one option… sled dogs. Meet Togo and Balto, two of the loyal dogs who made this amazing, life-saving journey!
